Smudgy Antics Challenge - Broken Heart

How great has 31 Days Of Halloween been?  I have been having a blast commenting and ogling all the great projects!  If you have not been there yet, start HERE!

I have created this little wall hang for the Smudgy Antic's blog which has a challenge going on right now called Broken Heart.  "This fortnight we want you ladies and gents to create a project depicting a broken heart or being broken hearted."  Poor girl has been broken hearted all her life and it has followed her to the afterlife.  She is forever caged.

Sadden Deets
I have used a digital stamp from Lacy Sunshine, Lady Heather's Curiosities Collection, called Eloise.
Aqua Painter and inks to color.
I fussy cut her out then layered her onto another print out of her.  This was so I could cut off parts to help give a little 3D effect with her cage w/ broken heart.
I cropped the original pic and focused on the cage.  Printed out and fussy cut so that the it was just the cage itself.
Silver Sparkle, Cherry Cobble, and Dazzling Details (like Stickles) on heart, eyes, and cage.
Stamp in background is from Glorious Grunge by Stampin' Up!
Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, White Organza Ribbon, and Silver 1/8" Ribbon for bow.

All materials used are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Smudgy Antics: Smudgefest Day 2

Are you playing along with this week long fun?  If not, I hope you are enjoying the entries and checking out all the players entries and visiting blogs.  I know I am!

On to Day 2 of Smudgefest.  Terrifying Tuesday - Create a project that showcases your favorite scarey Smeared Ink image.

For today's project I have created a small wall hang called Whispers.  The main image stamp (girl/or kid) gave me the creeps from the day it arrived in my mailbox.  I have been wanting to stamp/create and when this challenge came along, inspiration sprung.  I hope this whispers something to you...

Deadly Details

STAMPS -
Both are from Smeared Ink's Rubber Club sets.
Main Image - Prints, March 2013
Skull - As Death, October 2012

Stampin' Up! sets:
Flames - The Great Outdoors
Texture dots - Glorious Grunge

MAIN IMAGE -
Main image was stamped in Sahara Sand ink on Whisper White card stock.  Then colored in images and added definition with color pencils.  I cut out the white space to somewhat of a window.  When finished I used both a Blender Pen and Aqua Painter.  I tore all edges and then sponged.  The entire images was then Versa Marked (inked), sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder, and then heat set.

BACKGROUND -
Background skull image was stamped in Sahara Sand ink on Whisper White card stock.  Flames were stamped on the left side and gone over with an Aqua Painter.  Aqua Painter also used to add some darker color to skull.  Mini silver Brads for eyes.  Hard to see, but there is Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on background.

Main images was adhered to background with dimensionals.  I then added some great ribbon (thanks again Creepy Glowbugg!) to help frame and and more texture.  This was sticky striped to a 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" piece of Basic Black card stock.  Final piece measures about 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".

All materials and accessories are current Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise noted.

HDH 163 - A Divine Comedy

Haunted Design House Challenge 163 is Dante's work, A Divine Comedy.  Phew there is a lot of inspiration in this.  I went from idea to idea to freakin' out a little because nothing was working.  I made the mistake of looking at all the great ideas and finished projects from the other posts and decided to let the concept sink in a little.  Be sure to check out "the others" projects and what a fantastic job they all did.

I started on a couple of projects that I will eventually finish, but not in time, because my printer decided to take a dump on me and die.  May have to use it for parts...So I decided to go another way.

Smeared Ink has a Design Team Throwdown going on right now (awesome!!)  and the winners from last round, Haunted Design House, got to choose the theme for this round, Faux anything.  With this in mind I created my little wall hang using foil.

My project features Minos, a judgie character who sits outside of the 2nd Circle of Hell.  His tail curls around his body indicating which level/circle of Hell that the soul will go to.
I found a wonderful sketch from the artist Caleb Gresham which I used for my main image.  In this, Minos's tail is made from snakes.

CENTER IMAGE DEETS:
I had printed out Caleb's sketch and laid it over a piece of foil.  I used a stylus to trace over the sketch lines to make the imprint on the foil.
Once finished I colored in with markers (SU!), and Sharpie's.  When finished with main image, I used Crystal Effects to seal in colors and add a little dimension.
I used a skull stamp from Inkadinkado (Creepy Creatures Cling) to make it look like Minos was sitting on a bunch of skulls.  Then colored in with Sharpie's and Burnt Umber Acrylic Paint.
I used the stylus to add texture to the backgound around Minos and to write in the name.

FRAME DEETS:
For the frame I cut out a 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" from card board for the base.
Scruched up foil, flattened, and used brayer to make the backgound texture.
I glued Pleated Satin Ribbon (SU!) to the card board base for the snake skin texture.
Glue the foil to frame.  Use brayer over top of covered frame so that the ribbon shows up.
I added acrylic paints (Dark Pine from Deco Art Americana and Burnt Umber from Fold Flrt) to help bring out the textures.
Last I used Basic Black re-inker (SU!) and the Aqua Painter around all edges of frame.
