S&SJunkFunkSept Challenges

It was a good day.  Fingers are dyed and got three projects completed today.  Hope you get to get crafty this week.

This project I think I will label a Fat Book.  I was inspired by two challenges to make this and will be entering my project in each of the challenges.

The first challenge/Quest is at the Quoth the Raven, Nevermore blog.  Quest #36 - Tic Tac Poe.  I have used the row RAVEN/POE/BLACK.  All hail thine Master!  CRAP - missed the deadline.

Second challenge is this month's Junk Funk Challenge on the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  The junk we needed to use this month is coupons or advertisements.

I used a local advertisement flyer which has about 5 pages to it and is newspaper size.  The advertisement was already folded in half, and then folded in half again.  I folded it once more to measure around 5" x 5".  Trimmed off the folded sides and made into a book.  Got the idea to make 'fat pages' from a member on the Forum.

Lots of pics and info on how made below.  Thanks all!

PAGE 3 & 4 - THE TELL - TALE HEART

PAGES 4 & 5 - THE RAVEN

Short Stories on Deets

When I folded my advertisement, I did staple one side to help hold the pages in place.

Separated pages into 4 groups and then glued together pages with Tombow.
Started by inking all pages with Archival Ink Jet Black.
Then used Walnut Stain Ranger Distress Ink on all pages and blended into areas that the first ink did not get.

Next, I stamped all images from the Smeared Ink set Quoth the Raven (Feb 2013), which can be found in the Rubber Club Past Offerings, in Versa Mark ink.  All images were heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.

Went over images and randomly on page with Copper Inka Gold Metallic Rub, for each of the pages.
Once again went over pages with Archival Ink, using fingers to apply.
Repeated again with Rub and then Walnut Stain and last the Archival Ink once more.
Heated images again - this seemed to help bring out images again and burned the Rub a bit to give more definition to stamped images.

Used Washi tape for spine and used same inks and Rub to help blend into front and back covers.  I think Washi is Holtz.

Stamps in background from same stamp set and a background stamp called Hardwood (used on pages 3 & 4) all stamped with Black StazeOn ink.

Black Sharpie to write in bits of quotes from each of Edgar Allan Poe's Short Stories.

Note:  Metallic Rub and the treated wrinkled pages made it hard to read some of quotes in the pictures.  Below is a picture taken at another angle to help you see what is written.

31 DOH - Day 31

WOOOHOOOO!! I am going to break from the norm and get all the written work out of the way so that you can enjoy each photo for the rest of the post.

It's finally here Day 31 of 31 Days of insane Halloween craziness.  Every day was so much fun.  I simply loved every Wicked Blogger's dedication and creativity.  All comments are so great and I know that for a lot of us, makes us glad to have posted every day.  I tired to keep up with blogging, but as you know, life. So please know that if I have not commented lately, don't worry I will get there.  Lots of mouths to feed over here, heheheee....

THANK YOU  Smeared Ink and the Smeared and Smudged Forum for hosting this 31 Days of Halloween event.  Please see Terra's Blog for more information on who won the daily prizes and the soon to be announced bigger one! She is also the first Wicked Blogger on the list.  The wonderful and fabulous Roni just gave us another superb project and lovely talented Jenn has something wonderful next.

My last project for 31 Days is my Boo Book.  I have been working on this for over a year and I hope to never finish.  This was created with some wonderful friends, whom I miss dearly after we moved.  I keep it on my desk and put new additions in it as I go along.

Book is made from all kinds of different materials that have been sewed together.  Lot of everything in this from ribbon, stickers, chipboard, die cuts, rubber insects, rubber and digital stamps, Rhinestone and Pearl jewels, flowers and many more accessories and papers.  13 pages of delightful Halloween fun.  Enjoy and....
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!
