Ike's World Challenges Week 2, HDH Jan Challenge, PYG Jan Challenge

I apologize for this post not posting on the correct day.  For some reason it was ready to post for February.  Ho hum, yep, the mind is truly going.

Get over to Ike's World Challenges!  Such wonderful projects by the DT from Week 1 and Week 2.  This Challenge #29 Something Old / Something New is waiting just for you.  Get those projects in by Monday the 19th and win...

I will be using two of Ike's images, VAMP and NEW SHOES, which can be found at Ike's Art.  One of them is also this #29 Challenge FREEBIE!!
When I saw NEW SHOES, the first thing that popped into my head was little girl who was sad that she got her new shoes dirty...with blood!  You know me, always on the dark side.
Then I knew she reminded me of Claudia from 'Interview with a Vampire', and so my art journal page was born.
She and her shoes are something new, and the vampire who created her is something old.

I will also be entering this page into the January Challenges:
Haunted Design House January Challenge, "What's New Pussycat?"
Punk You Girl January Challenge "Anything Goes"

Cleaning Up the Deets

Sponge with Dylusions and Maya Mist sprays used to make background on page.

Vamp and New Shoes images were printed onto Whisper White card stock.
Each was colored in with inks, Aqua Painter, and markers.

Vamp was sponge around cut edges.
New Shoes was fussy cut.
Each was adhered onto page, then sponges around to highlight.

Saying was altered with a font in word, printed onto copy paper, cut, and adhered to page.
"A little child she was but also a fierce killer now capable of the ruthless persuit of blood, with a child's demanding."

S&S Oh! The Horror! Sept Challenge

My goal was to get all the Smeared and Smudged Monthly Challenges done this month and as of today I am 2 away!

I have created an Art Journal page for the Oh! The Horror! September Challenge.  This month's feature is a movie called THE MAID.  Check out the Smeared and Smudge Forum to find out more about it!

I did watch the movie and was inspired by the bits of ash, butterflies, ghosts, and the movie poster.

Shhhhh....Secrets and Details

Base of page was leftover inks from gelli plate.
Heads from Daniel Torrente are stamped all over the background with Black Memento ink.
Butterflies from set Papillion Potpourri, also stamped randomly on page with same ink.  Some of these were colored in with markers.
Black Sharpie used randomly on butterflies.

Image is from Ike's Art called Vamp.
Image was colored in with Blendabilites, Aqua Painter and inks.
Gold Acrylic Paint on eye, and lots of it to give dimension.
Edges were torn and images was then adhered to page.

Went over entire page with Gold Acrylic paint and paintbrush.

The 'ash' was created by spraying white tissue paper with homemade black spritz (black ink and alcohol) and Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.
It was cut up into small pieces and adhered to page.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! (SU!) unless otherwise noted.

Kickstart Your Art Day 5 - Scrap Background

Click HERE to find out more and to start at the beginning of this crazy, awesomely fun challenge.

I have started an Art Journal that features wonderfully dark ladies.
They are full of surprises and lots of fun.
I am continuing my "ladies journal" for this week long challenge.

Thank You awesome Art Journal Design Team over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum for all your wonderful tutorials and prompts to help us all out.
And shout out to Smeared Ink for sponsoring and getting this fabulous Challenge up and running.

I adore dark humor in all forms.  One of the best, and who has the best hair, is Elvira Mistress of the Dark.  This AJ page was inspired from the great one herself and quote is from the pinball game Scared Stiff (1996), remember those??

A Mouth Full of Deets

Vamp is one of Ike's new images just released this week.  Find her and other fab images at Ike's Art.
Image was printed onto recycled paper of my kiddos old school work.  Tore along right edge.
Markers and Blender Pen to color in.  Fine tip black Sharpie to darken lines and make veins in eye.

Used the Scrap Background technique for the base of my AJ page.  White Gesso w/ fingers to smear and blend over designer papers.

Watercolor crayons and Aqua Painter to give a bit of color over dried Gesso.
Stamp with Crumb Cake ink from set Urban Decay (April 2013), around all edges of face to give some more texture and shading.  A Smeared Ink Rubber Club past offer stamp set.

Black Sharpie for hand written quote.

Versa Mark ink over page.  Clear Embossing Powder over entire page and heat set.  Somehow managed not to get ink and EP on eye.  But worked out fine.

Crystal Effects on eye and lips.
Did not realize that when I used the water and then heat set that the images from kiddos homework would show through.  But ended up looking pretty cool so no worries.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
