SoSS #9 Guest Designer and SI Weekly DT Project

The new challenge is up for those crafty ladies of the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers today.  The #9 Challenge is R is for Ribbon.  Use some ribbon on your project.  I am obsessed with ribbon and thankful for this opportunity to Guest Design for this challenge.  I have tried to use the ribbon in a new and fun way.

My images are also all Smeared Ink and so will be using this project for my Smeared Ink Design Team Project.  The main image is from the Venice Digi Set.

Below will be all the details on how I created the ribbon frame and made this wall hang.

Thanks again to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers and be sure to get your ribbon projects in!

Punching out the Deets

Main mask image was from Venice Digi Set.  Printed onto Very Vanilla card stock, colored in with Blendabilities, and fussy cut.
I used Silver Dazzling Details for bells, face, and highlights on front.
Crystal Effects over entire image.

BASE
My base is a card board box that held CapriSun's.
I used a nail to punch holes around each side.  Then did one more inner row.
For the metallic look, I had some Kyron Mirror Spray Paint which I then covered my base.
Red StazOn ink and En Francias background stamp (retired) were stamped to help frame the main image a bit more.
Rhinestone jewels were also added for some glitz.

FRAME
I used the color of ribbons that I used in image.
Each ribbon was cut to around 4".
I started using a lollypop end to get the ribbon through the punched holes, but the stick ended up bending.  I then found a plastic large sewing needle that was a lot easier to push the ribbon through.
There are at lease 3 different ribbons for each color, besides the black and gray in the corners.  All ribbon is retired SU!.
Some ribbon ends were trimmed.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Ike's World Challenges DT Project #18

Welcome to Challenge #18 - Song / Film Title Challenge.  We have all been inspired at one time or another by a song or film.  Here at Ike's World Challenges the Design Team have some wonderful inspiration to help get closer to winning the prize.
I have a card that uses an image from Ike's Art that for some reason spoke to me for this challenge.  I was inspired by WOLF 3 and the song Little Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs.  I am a sucker for any songs in the 40's, 50's. and 60's.    This song was released in 1966 and has always been a favorite.

Thanks Ike for you wonderful image and just so happy to hopefully inspire you to join in this round.

Riding the Deets

Silver Marker to add lyrics of song.

Poem by Michael R. Burch
Pale Though Her Eyes

"Pale though her eyes,
her lips are scarlet
from drinking of blood,
this child, this harlot

born of the night
and her heart, of darkness,
evil incarnate
to dance so reckless,

dreaming of blood,
her fangs - white- baring,
revealing her lust,
and her eyes, pale, staring..."

HDH#189 and SoSS#8 Challenges

There are so many wonderful challenges going on right now!  I have entered my magnet into two challenges that you still have time to get your craft on and enter.

First is the Haunted Design House Macabre Monday Challenges.  This week we have Challenge #189 - Ripped to Ribbons.  Got to use those ribbons somewhere on your horroriffic creation.  THANK YOU DT for your outstanding inspiration!

Next, the sisterhood.  Oh these ladies are fabulous!  The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers are onto the next challenge.  Challenge #8 - C is for Crap.  WTF did I buy that for???  Yep, we all have said that one time or another.

On my base, besides the magnet, is a small bit off the ribbon I have purchased over the years.  Hence, WTF did I buy all that ribbon for???
Because I am a ribbon HOARDER.

In this project I believe that are are 10 - 12 different white/vanilla/natural ribbons.  That is not even close to the amount of rolls in that color scheme.  Then there are all the other colors...

Just as my guy says, "We all have demons.  I just choose to feed mine."

Ike's World Challenges DT and Junk Funk S&S May Challenge

Amazing inspiration done by the Ike's World Challenges are headed your way!  A new challenge has started and for the next two weeks you have a chance to win when you enter your project inspired by either this picture or color combo.

Challenge #17 - Photo Inspiration

We love to see your entries!  In order to be eligiable you must use an image created by Ike.  Either past freebies, other companies, or from Ike's Art, as long as it is by Ike.

I will also be entering my card into the May 2014 Junk Funk Challenge over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  You must use a Paper Towel somehow in your project.

I got this image as a freebie.  One of my favorite books is It by Steven King.  I just finished reading the book, so it was a given that I was inspired to use this image.  Wanted to give a bit of the vintage feel and these colors were perfect.

Drain full of Deets

Image was printed onto Very Vanilla card stock.
Colors used were markers, Blendibilities (new alcohol markers by SU!), Blender Pen, and White Chalk Marker.
Crystal Effects on eye, nose, and tongue.
Ranger Distressed Crackle Paint Linen on teeth.

Background

Inked a paper towel with Hello Honey ink.  Sprayed with water. Pressed my Whisper White cards stock onto paper towel to pick up the pattern and color for the textured background.

SI May 2014 Member Hop & Aurora Wings #2

Member Blog Hop
May 2014

BLOG HOP ROLL
Erin
Shoni aka Crafty Inknik - YOU ARE HERE
Ike

If you have already been at Erin's blog, and those before, you may already know that the challenge for this May Member Blog Hop is WATER.  We get to interpret this any way we would like.  If this is your first stop, Ike is up next and the Blog Roll is listed above.

Members of the Smeared and Smudged Forum have a chance each month to show off their mad skills.  I am so happy to have 7 other fellow members join me this month.  Please leave some love because I know each one of them have worked very hard in a short amount of time.

I am also entering this wall hang into the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog.  The theme for Challenge #2 is Monochromatic.

For this project, I had no idea what I wanted to do.  I was looking for tutorials using paper towels and somehow found this wonderful picture of a fish that was made from toilet paper rolls.  It looked a lot like Quilling, just on a bigger scale (hehe...).  So I decided to try it out with card stock.  Below you will find more pictures on the beginnings of my fish.  I am so happy to share this with you and very pleased at how it all turned out.  Enjoy!

Gut Full of Deets

FISH
8 different card stocks were used.  I cut up into 3/4" x 8 1/2" and 3/4" x 12" from all different blue toned card stocks.

Used a Bone folder/pencil/paintbrush end to help curl the strips.

Sticky Strip to help hold it all together.  Mini Glue dots to help the swirls stay in place.

Once the fish was completely done, I flipped it over and used Crystal Effects over as many edges as I could.  Then flipped it back and adhered to my finished background.

THE SEA aka background

Background is made from two pieces of cardboard backing that comes in the SU! Designer Paper packages.  They measure 12" x 12".  Used a piece of packing tape to hold them together.
I really wanted these bubbles to stand out.  I stamped bubbles with the darkest blue I had, Night of Navy, then used Clear Embossing Powder and heat set on the stamped images.  Each bubble was colored in with Pool Party and Marina Mist markers to help add depth and pop a bit from the rest of the background.

Ink layers, Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party, and Marina Mist were then brayered on.
Homemade spritz with re-inker and alcohol randomly over entire background.

Different colors of blues inked onto two sizes of bubble wrap to make background textures.

Crumb Cake ink and a background stamped called Netting for more texture.

Other stamps used:
Smushallaum and Octopet are by Daniel Torrente from Stampotique
Rising Bubbles and Leafy Sea Dragon from Designs By Ryn
Stamp from set Dedicated to Art (Dec 2013) from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club

Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on entire background.

Tore the right and lefts sides.  Inked and sponged torn edges and all sides with Night of Navy ink.

Crystal Effects over embossed bubbles and randomly around fish.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
