For those of you who do not know, for Part 1 you must enter the challenge using one of Rick's super incredible images.  There are over 1,000!  And for all types of creativity as well.  For Part 2, if you get your project in on time, you get a FREE image to use for Part 2.  This month was a sweet little thang named Aloha Nui.

I love going to the dollar store and found these magnet boards for sale.  Of course had to buy a bunch and have used....3, including the project for this challenge.  So what if I've had them over 4 years...THEY ARE GETTING USED!

I have made a calendar page using a digital image from the set called Daemon Horses, a digital paper from the set Honor The Dead, and a rubber stamp from the set Urban Decay.

Please see daily inspiration over at the Smudgy Antics blog and if you happen to use any Smeared Ink images in your projects be sure to enter the month long Smudgy Antics Challenge - Anything Goes.

Smeared Ink is so lucky to have many wonderfully talented artists as part of the image team.  This image was done by Susan Eisenhauer, aka Ike.

Smudgy Antics - Dreams Post

I recently went to Phoenix for a get away with some friends and now find myself playing catch up once again.
This post is for a Smudgy Antics post that was done on March 11th.

The inspiration for this page was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe and a challenge that was based off one of his works.

Quoth the Raven, Nevermore has month long challenges.  I will be entering this into Quest #42 - Dream On.

I have used both digital paper and stamps on this page.  The main image is from the digital set called Death Cab.  The digital papers on the background are from Poe Boy and Vintage Grunge.  Stamps are a set from the Rubber Club Past Offerings, Quoth The Raven.

Quote is from Edgar Allan Poe
"You are not wrong who deem
That my days have been a dream..."

I have made a card using a handsome image from Ike's Art called Night Stranger.  I saw this quote on Pinterest and had to laugh because I have mini-van, but not the stick figures.  It cracked me up and so inspired my card.

Haunted Design House Februray Challenge

Its a 'Love / Hate Thing' for this months challenge at the Haunted Design House Macabre Monday challenge blog.

You do have all month long to get those projects in and they pretty much accept anything.  Anything being twisted, dark, and soooo unconventional.

Be sure to leave those minions some love/hate as well for the mind numbing projects that they create.

If you do not know, I am an American Horror Story stalker.  This year has been AAAAmazing and of course now must create!  Thank you Smeared Ink for this wonderful image of  Meep The Geek from a series of images titled Carnival De La Nuit.

Kickstart Your Art - Day 4 and AJEDJan Challenge

Ummmm, yea!  I finally caught up and have my Day 4 art journal page ready to roll for the Kickstart Your Art week long challenge.

Today is Doodle Day for this Day 4 challenge.  I do not doodle so I apologize in advance for my meager attempt.  Again I have used  my new homemade art journal book "Winter is Here." book for this page.  Trying to get at least one journal, for the most part completed.

My main skellie image is by the talented Mr. Rick St. Dennis.  See his Zibbit shop HERE for more fab images.

Since this does have a skull, I am also going to get my page into the Art Journal Every Day January Challenge.  Skulls must be used on your page.  Find our Smeared and Smudged group on Facebook!

Page was inspired by the book series Game of Thrones.

Watch these Deets!

Base of page was made with all sorts of blues in acrylic paints, lined stencil, and sponge.

Image was pritned onto Whisper White card stock.  Colored in with Copics, fussy cut and adhered to dried base page.

Used a small hand stamp from Smeared Ink called Prints.

Words written are:
"It was the children who carved the faces on the weirwoods to keep watch"
and
"Winter is here"

Sharpies and journaling pen also used.

Kickstart Your Art Day 3 and Smudgy Antics DT Project

These pages are so fun and so glad to be a part of Kickstart Your Art this year.  I am also up today for the Smudgy Antics Design Team project and have decided to combine today's post with KYA Day 3, since I have only used Smeared Ink stamps.

The challenge for Day 3 is Collage.  Definition: a piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric onto a backing. A combination or collection of various things.
Log into Facebook and look for the Smeared and Smudge group and join in all the challenges and see some wonderful inspiration from members and the Design Team.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to get your Anything Goes projects in for January at Smudgy Antics!

Yup, think I can do this and VERY happy with how my page turned out.  One of my favorite colors is blue and had these papers out, so all the scraps and what not from that project I was able to use on this.  Woohoo!

My lass is from a Smeared Ink digital stamp set called Broken and Bleeding.  When I colored her in she originally had black eye centers, eyebrows, and lips.  But once she was on the page...had to find my Smooch Pealizied Accents and change that to a deep blue.  Hard to see in the pic because of the flash.

Layerin' Up the Details

Page was from my new homemade art journal that had not yet been base painted.

All designer papers, die cuts, punched pieces, ribbons, wahsi tape, doilies, printed vellum, and embellies from stash.
The Jewel Rhinestones were colored over with a black Sharpie.
Skellie on flower is from a winnings I received from the wonderful Creepy Glowbugg.  I use her fab embellies sparingly, but this page was calling out for it!

Image from Broken and Bleeding was printed onto Very Vanilla card stock.  Colored in with Blendabilities and markers.  Fussy cut, then adhered to page.

Day 2 Kickstart Your Art

Seems to be the saved by the 24 hour bell once again.  Here is my art journal page for Day 2 of the new Kickstart Your Art week long challenge.  For Day 2 you must use lyrics from a song or poem.

I have chosen one of my favorite songs, "Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the Shondells (1968).

Hard to see but used a Smeared Ink rubber stamp from the Rubber Club Past Offerings stamp set called Lost Dreams.  Wanted to make it psychedelic a bit to represent that era of the song.

Da-da-da-da-da Deets

Lyrics were altered in Word and AR CHRISTY front was used.
Printed out onto some designer paper from stash.
Cut out and then adhered.

Page started with stencil and Dylusion Ink Sprays.
Added lyric squares.
Stamped image with red ink and colored in with markers and a fine tip black Sharpie to help define her face a little more.
Paint brush for red around lyrics and on edges.
Top of laundry cap to help make designs in the green acrylic paint.
Water spritzed over to help blend all the colors.

Sorry that the red looks pink in this pic!

Ike's World Challenges - Week 2 Challenge #30 and HDH - JanWNP? Challenge

What??
Yes, I have finally got my post on the right day...it is a new year!

Welcome to Week 2 of Challenge #30 - SKETCH here at Ike's World Challenges.

Get your Challenge #30 entries in HERE and see Week 1 inspiration of this sketch if you missed it.

I love doing sketch and color challenges and this one was so fun using Ike's images.  We as the Design Team are sometimes super lucky to get to use images designed by Ike that are not in the her shop, Ike's Art.  Which was the case with this challenge.  Links will be provided for those images you can purchase and if you would like the others...well be sure to answer the next DT call!

The project for this Sketch challenge is a notebook.  I have used the images HOLLY FAIRY and ZOMBIE PET SHOP 2, images not in the shop:  Xmas Star, Sall's Eagle, and Stable Doors.

I am a huge fan of all kinds of cats.  So happy Ike has a lot of choices.  These Zombie Cats are one of my favs.  Found out that there is an Egyptian Goddess of domestic cats, Bastet.  So this is dedicated to her and to all domestics, alive and dead.

As you may or may not know, Haunted Design House has changed their bi-weekly challenges into monthly challenges.  This January the challenge is What's New Pussycat?  And can be interpreted as we would like.  So I am using my kitty fetish from this project to enter into HDH's challenge as well.

S&S Kickstart Your Art Day1 and LOC #62

Okay so officially it's almost Day 2 of the new Kickstart Your Art week long challenge, but you have 24 hours to get your art journal page in and I am down to the nitty gritty this morning.

Day 1 KYA challenge is Layers.  I have got plenty on this page and was very happy with the way it has turned out.

Left of Center also has their Challenge #62 - Layer it Up which this page will be entered into.

Have both digital and rubber stamps on this page along with layers of papers and paints.

Full On Toxic Details

Ladies are from the Smeared Ink Digital set called Toxic Ballerinas.  Image was printed out onto Very Vanilla card stock.  Colored in with markers.  Crystal Effects over eyes.  They were fussy cut and then adhered to another piece of Very Vanilla card stock that I had already used acrylic paints on.

Layer below ballerinas was placed onto gelli plate, then gone over with reds and paint brush.  Wanted to bring out the veins on each of the ballerinas.
Washi tape was also placed along center before ballerinas were adhered.
Tore along all edges and adhered this layer to my journal page.

Base layer of page is what I made for my Winter is Here project...found HERE.
Used a variety of blue acrylic inks, spray inks, stencils, sponges, and various nick-nacks to make patterns.  Other colors of acrylic inks were added to enhance the pages I was working on.

Once each layer was adhered down, I used the back ground stamps Heads (Daniel Torrente) and French Filigree (retired SU!) with inks randomly on page.

Quoth The Raven, Nevermore Jan Quest #40

I am enjoying all the new challenges going on in the new year and have decided to made a flip book dedicated to some of the great Edgar Allan Poe quotes.
The Quests at Quoth The Raven, Nevermore are perfect for this flip book.
Trying to get more into the digial side of experimenting and having a blast.

The page will be entered into this Quest #40 - Snow Poe where the challenge is to use White and only one other color.

Dabbled Deets

Background is from the Smeared Ink digital set called Venice.
Image was altered with Picasso and printed out on Whisper White card stock.

Took the quote from The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe and used AR JULIN font in Word.  Printed out over background.

Used Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink and stamps from a Smeared Ink rubber set called Inky Dreams.  Stamped randomly around edges of page.

All edges on page were distressed and sponged.

Basic Black card stock for backing. All edges also distressed.

Illuminate Pearlized Top Coat Smooch on random words through out quote.

Black journaling pen to add quotation marks and title.

Crop-a-dile to punch holes for 1" binder rings.

"The mask which concealed the visage was made so nearly to resemble the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have had difficulty in detecting the cheat. And yet all this might have been endured, if not approved, by the mad revellers around. But the mummer had gone so far as to assume the type of the Red Death. His vesture was dabbled in blood --and his broad brow, with all the features of the face, was besprinkled with the scarlet horror."

Smudgy Antics DT Project and S&S AJ Jan Challenge

For today's Smudgy Antics DT inspiration I have used Smeared Ink stamps from the Rubber Club Past Offerings sets:
and

I will also be entering this art journal page into the Smeared and Smudged January Art Journal Challenge - Skulls.  You can find this challenge HERE

Dirt Covered Deets

Page was started with brush and Black Gesso.  Let dry.

Used skull stamp from Morte on left side and stamped with Versa Mark ink.  Crushed Curry Embossing Powder over stamped images and then heat set.

Raven, from Quoth The Raven set, was inked with Silver Encore ink and randomly stamped all over page.

Heart, also from Quoth The Raven set, was inked with Crushed Curry ink and randomly stamped all over page.

Then used a small brush with White Gesso to make eyes, nose, teeth, and light outline of skull.  Let dry.

Journaling pen to outline skull and features.  Then wrote a bit of "The Premature Burial" by Edgar Allan Poe.

"The unendurable oppression of the lungs - the stifling fumes from the damp earth - the clinging to the death garments - the rigid embrace of the narrow house - the blackness of the absolute Night - the silence like a sea that overwhelms the unseen but palable presence of the Conqueror Worm - these things, with the thoughts of the air and grass above..."
