NEW! Ike's World Challenges

Eeek!!  I thought I had until tomorrow to get this in, but now I am down to 1 hour and 20 minutes!!  EEST time zone is not the same as EST zone.  So be aware and make sure you check your link times for those deadlines on any challenge.

Now, a wonderful new challenge blog has just been created.  Ike's World Challenges Blog is another great way to challenge yourself, see what others are creating, get more inspiration, and just have a great time getting crafty.

Ike also has a shop called Ike's Art.  Click on the link to find great artistic digital images.  There are quite a few so take some time and enjoy browsing.  There is a wide variety for everyone.

On to the First Ike's World Challenge!  We were able to download a FREE digital image for the use of this first challenge.  The image is called 'Fashionista'.  With this image or any of Ike's other images, we played a little Tic Tac Toe.
I chose to use the Tag, Doily, and Ribbon column.
My niece, who is 6, has some of the best outfits and is quite sassy herself.  I am going to print out small pictures of her in her stunning outfits.  The tags will be photo mats as well as the open areas on the page.

The Do's and Don'ts
Page is 8" x 8" on Crushed Curry card stock.
Border is from Delicious Doodles called Gargoyle Frame.  I printed onto copy paper and fussy cut.  Mini Silver Brads were used on eyes and doily.
Crushed Curry marker is on frame, boots, main image eyes, and letters in saying.
Background pattern paper is from stash and is by Bo Bunny.
I used Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon on each side.  Words are mounted on Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon.
Saying is from Dylusions, a set called Say It How It Is.
Doily is from Stampin' Up! and I pressed the Crushed Curry ink pad onto to help coordinate.  Edges are gone over with Soft Suede ink.
Saying is stamped with Black Staze On.
Main image is colored in with inks and Blender Pen.
Her hair, vest, and bottom of boots have White Enamel Accents by Ranger.

Smeared Ink Forum Freaky Freebie August Challenge

We have been moving all month long.  Everyone's rooms got done and now I have to sort out mine!  I have left my husband 1/2 of a closet and one dresser...it's his own fault for not buying a house with  more rooms!  I just cleaned off my desk and got the computer up and running yesterday.  When I got back this afternoon I decided to create a little something instead of organizing and putting away stuff...oh and laundry (sigh).

I hope by the end of next week to have the majority of the room finished and back to having fun creating and stamping!!

My entry for today is for the Smeared Ink Forum Freaky Freebie August Challenge.  We get to use and download a free image from the wonderful site full of great digital stamps, Smeared Ink, to use in our project.  This month is Anya from the Glam Vamps set.

I saw this image and thought wow, she is fashion!  Then I saw the hair in her hand and that quote "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" popped into my head.  So I took this and ran with it...

Deets
I printed out Anya lots on copy paper and semi fussy cut each.  Then used the Aqua Painter to color in all of the outfits and hair.
I had the 80's in mind so kept to a lot of neutral colors with splashes of color.
Main or big Anya has gold marker accents, red lips, and is outlined with a black Sharpie.
I found some images of Pantene bottles online.  Printed out and fussy cut.
Words are done in AR Darling font.
DP is from a set called Soho Subway, 8" x 8".
Stamps on DP are En Francias and Sunflower.
Saying at the bottom is written in brown journal marker.

All items used are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Something Nice

Sometimes those kid movies get my insane mind going.  This little ditty is inspired from the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.  The main character is an inventor and created a wonderful little animal called the Ratbird.  It is a combination of a rat and parrot.  They end up saving a life, but in my project they like to take a life.

Now how perfect is this little guy for the Smudgy Antics Challenge - Feathers and Fur.  Only, I missed the deadline.  So I am going to enter this in this weeks Left Of Center Challenges - ALWAYS use anything goes as long as your project can be classified as creepy, Steampunk, Halloween, Punk, Anime, Grungy, Goth, Dark, Horror.  There are some truly amazing projects done by the Design Teams and fellow crafter's at both sites.  Please take a look.

Here is Something Nice, just for you...

The not so nice deets:
This page measure 8" x 8" and the base is Whisper White card stock.

I used a new stamp from the exclusive Smeared Ink Rubber Club for the background.  Stamp is from the set Urban Decay and is stamped in Summer Starfruit ink.

For my square pattern, I used the rubber padding that you place under a chair pillow to keep it from sliding.  I inked it with Strawberry Slush and then pressed it onto my page for some texture.  I wanted the background to look fun, nice, and pretty in contrast to what is going on with the main naughty creature.

To make the Ratbird, I used a toy rat that I got from the Dollar Store.  3 of these little guys for $0.50!

I had some left over feather, probably from Walmart, that I used for the wings.  I did cut them down a bit and left the ones on body the colors they came in.

The fur on the body is an ear from some stuffed animal that my kids had when they were little.  I never did sew it back on.  Oh well.  I used Basic Black reinker and a bit of water to dye the fur.

I used Crystal Effects to attach the fur and wings once the fur was dry.

A red Sharpie marker was used to color in the pearl eyes.  Then a black Sharpie for eye centers.

I had just gotten a package from a wonderful person who made the brain on my page.  You can find more brains and cool creations by Creepy Glowbugg Conoctions HERE.

I stamped the saying in Elegant Eggplant.  Stamp is from a retired set called Tags Til Christmas, from Stampin' Up!.

Crystal Effects was also used over the work Naughty to highlight it.

Naughty, Naughty, Naughty

I had a blast making this 8" x 8" scrapbook page.  Thank You Smeared and Smudged for May's Very Sketchy Challenge.  I printed out this scrapbook sketch because I really wanted to make a page.  I have been looking at it every day with no ideas.
Then my Rubber Club stamps showed up and what do you know??  Yup, IDEA!!  For some reason black and white has been a creative element this month for me.  Another great blog, Left of Center, has a Black & Red Challenge going on right now.  I have melded the two challenges and so will be posting in both challenges.
Get over to these challenges, see some wonderful projects, and join in...or I may have get the whip out!

Fae Frog - Deadly

Freakin' Cool is what this challenge is!  Get a Free digital stamp and make anything you want with it, who could ask for more!  Get your buns over to the Smeared and Smudged Forum and sign up!

I am also going to enter this in the Haunted Design House Challenge 165, since the skin melting off my guy shows his bones.  The challenge is Skeletal Remains - anything relating to skeletal remains e.g. skulls, skeletons and bones etc.
While you are clicking around, check out all the great posts there and get ready for a new challenge Monday.

I do no know if any of you have seen a little TV show called Lost Girl, but it is all "FAE".  I kept wanting to do something along those lines, but ended up more along the lines of the TV show, Grimm.  This is an 8" x 8" scrapbook page from Aunt Marie's book...

The Gorey Deets
I printed out the Fae Frog onto shiny card stock, colored and cut out.  I used Crystal Effects on eyes.
I used a Rick St. Dennis DIGI stamp called "Let's have Brains", which I printed out on Very Vanilla card stock.  The bones were gone over with a Versa Mark Pen, then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I then used an Aqua Painter and inks to color in, then cut out.

Poisonous secretion is Crystal Effects and Tangerine Tango re-inker, dried into drip shapes on a silicon mat.

I scrunched up some white tissue paper, then spritzed with Pink Pirouette Smooch Spritz and Mulberry Red Maya Mist to make the brains.

I sponged in the dirt, then used a stamp from a set called Clockworks (Stampin' Up!) to help add the darker sploches to make it look like dirt.

Trees are stamped with Early Espresso ink.  Tree stamp is by (c) Daniel Torrente from Stampotique, called Tree.

I used an Aqua Painter and inks to color in the background.

I adhered cut digi images and wrote in the words with a Sharpie pen.

HDH 165 - Into The Earth You Shall Go

Haunted Design House Challenge 165 - anything relating to skeletal remains e.g. skulls, skeletons and bones etc.

See what you can dig up by checking out the challenge.  They last 2 weeks, so no reason to join.

I have finished cutting and mounting my new stamps and wanted to use the skeleton in the lower right on page.  I kept making things that I did not like.  Set aside the image and decided to let my brain stew on it for a little bit.  I woke up this morning and new what I wanted to do.

I love this quote and what not better to store those skeletal remains and soon to be dead other than those fantastic structures called mausoleums.  "...and into the earth you shall go."
Here is my entry:

DETAILS
This is an 8" x 8" scrapbook page.
I used Google for mausoleum images and found three that I liked.  They are the top two and lower left images.
The saying and the skeleton on the lower right are from Smeared Ink.  I just became a member of their rubber stamp club and got these great stamps last month.
The lower center is a stamp from Lost Coast Stamps called Ancient Man i.  I drew in the skeleton lines on face and neck.  I also used a gold marker for the leaf crown.
On each images I used inks and an Aqua Painter to color in and around images.
There is also Crystal Effects on a single image in each of the 5 images.
All stamped images where inked with Black Staze On.
Designer paper, card stock, inks, and supplies are from Stampin' Up!

I am also going to use this project for the Architechural GDT Challenge on the Smeaerd and Smudged Forum.
