Smudgy Antics SIDT Check Book Cover

The weekend is almost here and I do hope that you get some time to get crafty, inky, and creative!  I thank all of you who do visit to find out more about my SIDT projects.

My project for today uses one of the Smeared Ink Rubber Club Past Offering sets:  Danse Macabre and a bit of Jack.

If you happen to use Smeared Ink's unique stamps, we would love to see your project and get it entered into the Smudgy Antics Monthly January Anything Goes Challenge

I do not know about you, but for some reason the covers for my checks are all blue.  When reaching into my bag to dig one out I always grab the wrong one.  Well...NO MORE!  Here is my new check book cover:

Doop-da-doop Deets

Printed music is from ACDC Whole Lotta Rosie, which was a project that I never got around to making...sound familiar anyone??  But now it got used, woohoo!

Cut and adhered to outside of blue check book cover with Sticky Strip.

Main Image
Background
On Whisper White card stock, used distress inks and sponge w/ a spray bottle with water.  Blended and re-inked here and there to get colors to blend.  Let dry.
Used a small dot stencil and same process to add some pattern.  Let dry.
Sponged around all edges.

Stamped dancing skellies with Versa Mark ink, covered with White Embossing Powder and heat set.
Words and music notes were stamped with Black StazOn ink.

Adhered finished piece to front of check book cover with sticky strip.
Used some gold dotted washi tape around edges.
Went over entire cover with light amount of Crystal Effects to help keep papers down.

Day 29 -31 Days and S&SJunkFunk Challenge

You may have just arrived from the ghoul-ter-ghiest Wicked Blogger Kapree and are now here at Shoni / Crafty Inknik.  The next blood draining blog is Altered Pages.
The Wicked Blogger Roll is on the left side bar <-------
Scavenger hunt rules and guidelines can be found HERE for 31 Days of Halloween.

Ack, my camera ran out of juice so will post pic of Halloween Wreath hanging in a bit.  The base of this wreath was Q-Tips, which is the October Junk Funk Challenge at the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  I was hoping they would show a bit more but oh well!

And my pic the face looks yellow, but is bright green.  Ahhh, gotta love altered colors!
Again, barely making it and will post more deets later this afternoon.  Thanks all.

Smeared Ink Weekly DT Project

This week I have made an Art Journal Page using Smeared Ink stamps from the Rubber Club Past Offerings and the wonderful Prompt #25 Acrylics by Susan Salyer from the Smeared and Smudged Forum.

"Faster, faster ever faster
and yet faster now they race,
winding, whirling, ever swirling
in the frenzy of their pace
and they shimmer in the moonlight
as they spin themselves through space."

Tune Full of Deets

Stamps are from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club sets Danse Macabre (Jan 2014 #1) and Jack (May 2014 #1).

Background is from the AJED Prompt #25.  I used blues, brown, and gold acrylic paints.  White Gesso as my base.
Stars stencil and blue and white acrylic paint for sky.
Black StazOn ink with stars stamp.
Gold Encore Ink for music swirls.

Skeletons inked and stamped with Night of Navy ink pad.  Main Skellie inked and stamped with Versa Mark Ink then heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder.

The full version of the poem can be found HERE.  Poem is called The Dance of the Thirteen Skeletons from Nightmares: Poems to Trouble Your Sleep by Jack Prelutsky.

Journaling pen for doodles around edges and black Sharpie for words.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Weekly Smeared Ink DT Project

Feels great to be home and can't wait to get back to crafting.  We are just finishing up Spring Break here and the kids and I were gone all week.  Had a great time with both sets of grandparents and took all three kiddos on a backpacking trip in Moab, UT.   So between laundry and unpacking the car my breaks are trying to get some posts and online eye candy in.  So much to catch up on!

On to my Smeared Ink Weekly Design Team Project.  I have created a recipe box out of necessity.  I have one notebook where I place my fav's, but it got left behind at a friend house, eeekkkk!  So now I have decided to create a new box to place my fav's and it WILL NOT leave my house.  Remember to check out the Smeared and Smudged Forum for my teamies wonderful weekly projects, or click on their names on the left side to get to their blogs.

I was in Santa Fe, NM a couple of weekends ago and found a fabulous little stamp shop in downtown.  Picked up a couple of "must have's" and the stencil used on the front and back of my box is one of those.

I have used Smeared Ink Rubber Club stamps from the Past Offerings Rubber Club and am waiting to get my Build A Zombie Alphabet, which is one of two of April's Featured Sets, for the letters to spell "Recipes" and other fun words dealing with food and eating.
My pages are stamped, stenciled, and printed out.

Appetizing Deets

I started with a Tampax box.  Tore off the top flaps.  Adhered Newsprint Designer Paper (retired SU!) all over the box with Tombow glue.  Set aside to dry.

Danse Macabre from Past Rubber Club Offerings used on side and on pages.  (Set is also availabe in Digi HERE)
Blue skull page is from the Smeared Ink Digital Paper set Cranium.  Color is altered and printed out in a smaller size.

Finished my box with Black Gesso around all edges to help cove the color the original box and to hold a all the torn pieces in place.

Once everything is in place, the words, I will go over each panel with Crystal Effects to give a shiny finish and to hold it all together.

Photo 1
Once dry, I placed Mexican Skull stencil, from The Crafters Workshop, directly onto box side.  Spritzed with Dylusions Ink Sprays.  Placed a piece of white card stock over top to get the negative, which will be used on the other side of box.

Inked my homemade gelli plate up and you can see the acrylic paints and images around the edges.  Used another stencil called Ring Dolly, also from The Crafters Workshop, along the left edge with sponges and ink.

Pearl Jewels for eyes colored in with black Sharpie.  Fine Tip black Sharpie to outline the stencil a bit to see more of the skull image.

Photo 2
Used the negative from the first side.  Tore edges and adhered to side.
Ring Dolly Stencil used once more along once side with sponge and ink.
Pearl Jewels for eyes.

Photo 3 - Box Inside
Cut up a 12"x 12" DP from My Minds Eye and then spritzed with Maya Red Spray.
Placed a stronger piece of cardboard in the bottom which was distressed with Early Espresso ink around edges.
Used Lace Ribbon Border Punch (retired SU!) for edging with scrap DP.  Adhered to front and back edges.
Placed brads on each bottom corners, and on front and back of box.
Spritzed DP then adhered over to make a nice clean finish for box inside.

Side Panel
Rubber stamp from set Danse Macabre (January 2014) on torn Whisper White card stock.
Whisper White card stock background from gelli plate scraps.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Weekly Smeared Ink DT Project

Fat Tuesday and what better way than to celebrate this day than with a new Art Journal!  I am using watercolor paper as my base for each page.

My art journal page for my Weekly Smeared Ink Design Team project uses a stamp I just got from the set Danse Macabre (January 2014) and a partial saying from the stamp set Occasions Grumpies (September 2013). Both sets I received from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

Since I have only used Smeared Ink stamps I am also going to put this page in the Smudgy Antics Anything Goes Challenge found in the Challenger Group on the Smeared and Smudged Forum for this month.  Get over to the Smeared and Smudged Forum and check out the challenges, groups, and talented people.

I was also inspired by a wonderful ground which can be found at the Smeared and Smudged Forum called Art Journal Everyday.  This fab group has wonderful Design Team Members that give you prompts and techniques to help you create fun new pages for your art journal.

I have used Technique #15, done by Titbelsoeur, for this/these pages which I am planning on turning into a journal.  I just love this technique!!  Live it up tonight and get crafty!

NO FLASH
Drinks N' Deets

I stamped my image from Danse Macabre Smeared Ink Rubber Club set onto scrap paper.  Fussy cut.
Looked in some magazines until I saw this page w/ lots on it.  Tried a few pictures then saw the hat shape and the bottle.
Used the two pictures and my fussy cut guy to make my template.  I found an old piece of plastic in my stash and used a black Sharpie to make outlines.
Fussy cut my drawn shape on the plastic.

Background is use of bubble wrap, Dylusion Spray Inks, templates, and random texture pieces I could find.

Saying is "get lit" from the original saying "let's get lit for the holidays" from the Occasions Grumpies stamp set, Smeared Ink Rubber Club.  I stamped in Early Espresso ink inside image on left and around image on the right.

Skelli was re-stamped with Cajun Craze ink on right side.
I used a gold marker to outline each dancing guy.
Spritzed Gold Smooch (retired SU!) over entire page.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Found some funny pics of the kiddos dancing, or something like dancing.  Poor guys, both the hubs and I have absolutely no rythem what so ever.

I still need to add a title or a saying, but have not decided what I want it to be yet.
