Smeared and Smudged Monthly Member Blog Hop, SI Weekly DT, & ASiD #10

Today members of the Smeared and Smudged Forum have joined up for this months Member Blog Hop.  For September, the theme was "I WISH".  We were to interpret this any way we wished and keeping with the Smeared Ink rules, the project must be stamped somewhere.

Please be sure to leave comments on each of the members blog to let them know that their hard work is appreciated.  Thanks and on with the Blog Hop!

I have been watching True Blood like a mad woman trying to catch up before my HBO channels go away.  I thought it very clever when the vamps cry, they cry blood.  I have altered a little box into a shrine for this poor vamp girl who only wishes to be human again.

Hard to see but 'WISH' is written on the left and right side of the eye center on eyeball.
This picture was taken with the light fully on my shrine so that you can see everything.
The little candle in the shrine is on and in the next picture will show you the lit inside.
Pray for more Deets

 2014 July
Design Team Memeber Roll

SHONI - Crafty Inknik - You are here

The last week of July, holy moly how the time flies!  Hope you are having a great time blog hopping this morning.  You should have just arrived from a super teamie, Kapree.  Up next with another fab creation is Creepy Glowbugg.  We all love feedback, so leave a comment and let us know how wonderful (or un-wonderful) we are doing.

This month the theme was MONOCHROME.  Hum....and another hum....but it all came together once my new sets of rubber stamps arrived.  Get in on the fun and receive a sheet of Smeared Ink original rubber stamps from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

I have altered a plastic case to make a little box to keep shells or jewelery, or what-not in.  I have used the set The Abyss (June 2014) and one of my favorite images, the larger seahorse.

More details below and have a great Smeared Ink Design Team Blog Hop!

Weekly Smeared Ink DT Project

Feels great to be home and can't wait to get back to crafting.  We are just finishing up Spring Break here and the kids and I were gone all week.  Had a great time with both sets of grandparents and took all three kiddos on a backpacking trip in Moab, UT.   So between laundry and unpacking the car my breaks are trying to get some posts and online eye candy in.  So much to catch up on!

On to my Smeared Ink Weekly Design Team Project.  I have created a recipe box out of necessity.  I have one notebook where I place my fav's, but it got left behind at a friend house, eeekkkk!  So now I have decided to create a new box to place my fav's and it WILL NOT leave my house.  Remember to check out the Smeared and Smudged Forum for my teamies wonderful weekly projects, or click on their names on the left side to get to their blogs.

I was in Santa Fe, NM a couple of weekends ago and found a fabulous little stamp shop in downtown.  Picked up a couple of "must have's" and the stencil used on the front and back of my box is one of those.

I have used Smeared Ink Rubber Club stamps from the Past Offerings Rubber Club and am waiting to get my Build A Zombie Alphabet, which is one of two of April's Featured Sets, for the letters to spell "Recipes" and other fun words dealing with food and eating.
My pages are stamped, stenciled, and printed out.

Appetizing Deets

I started with a Tampax box.  Tore off the top flaps.  Adhered Newsprint Designer Paper (retired SU!) all over the box with Tombow glue.  Set aside to dry.

Danse Macabre from Past Rubber Club Offerings used on side and on pages.  (Set is also availabe in Digi HERE)
Blue skull page is from the Smeared Ink Digital Paper set Cranium.  Color is altered and printed out in a smaller size.

Finished my box with Black Gesso around all edges to help cove the color the original box and to hold a all the torn pieces in place.

Once everything is in place, the words, I will go over each panel with Crystal Effects to give a shiny finish and to hold it all together.

Photo 1
Once dry, I placed Mexican Skull stencil, from The Crafters Workshop, directly onto box side.  Spritzed with Dylusions Ink Sprays.  Placed a piece of white card stock over top to get the negative, which will be used on the other side of box.

Inked my homemade gelli plate up and you can see the acrylic paints and images around the edges.  Used another stencil called Ring Dolly, also from The Crafters Workshop, along the left edge with sponges and ink.

Pearl Jewels for eyes colored in with black Sharpie.  Fine Tip black Sharpie to outline the stencil a bit to see more of the skull image.

Photo 2
Used the negative from the first side.  Tore edges and adhered to side.
Ring Dolly Stencil used once more along once side with sponge and ink.
Pearl Jewels for eyes.

Photo 3 - Box Inside
Cut up a 12"x 12" DP from My Minds Eye and then spritzed with Maya Red Spray.
Placed a stronger piece of cardboard in the bottom which was distressed with Early Espresso ink around edges.
Used Lace Ribbon Border Punch (retired SU!) for edging with scrap DP.  Adhered to front and back edges.
Placed brads on each bottom corners, and on front and back of box.
Spritzed DP then adhered over to make a nice clean finish for box inside.

Side Panel
Rubber stamp from set Danse Macabre (January 2014) on torn Whisper White card stock.
Whisper White card stock background from gelli plate scraps.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Smeared Ink Design Team January Blog Hop

Shoni - You Are HERE at Crafty Inknik
Ike
Rocio - So Sorry but not able to participate this month

Hello and hope you are having a great time on the first Smeared Ink Design Team Blog Hop for 2014.  Be sure to check back the last Monday of every month because we will be getting crafty just for you.
You may have just arrived from Kapree's fab blog, and are now here at Shoni aka Crafty Inknik.   Up next is Ike and her wonderful project.

Smeared Ink has so many wonderfully fun images and for this January DT Blog Hop we had to choose one of our favorite images.  This was very hard, but I kept thinking about one image.  It was the image I used on my first DT project back in October when I officially became a Smeared Ink DT member.  This rubber stamp is from the set Morte (June 2013 drawn by Mr. Rick St. Dennis) and is from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

The Details are in the Frame

Two things inspired this wall hang.  One was the Junk Funk January Challenge over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  The challenge is Packaging.  It can be packaging from Christmas or general packaging you have got ready to go in the recycling bin.  I have a box that did contain a Christmas gift and so decided to use and alter it.

The second inspiration was coffee filters.  I wanted to try something different and something that I have not played with for a while.  Usually I used ink and dye the filters, but saw some great looking frames that inspired me to create mine.

The bottom part of the box was covered with dryer sheets and Black Gesso.  It was then opened to lay flat.  I had folded and twisted a whole bunch of filters to look like little fans.  Each one was then hot glued with a glue gun to make a frame.  I did two layers for the frame.

Grosgrain Black Striped Ribbon (retired SU!) was then hot glued to cover the twisted ends of the coffee filters.

Stamp from Morte, Smeared Ink Rubber Club past offering set, was ink with Versa Mark ink.  I stamped image in the center on the Gesso-ed dryer sheet.  Silver Embossing Powder over image and then heat set with heat gun.  I did use a Versa Mark marker to make the cracks around face go a bit further towards the ribbon.  Repeat with Silver EP and heat gun.

Frame was spritzed with Silver Smooch Spritz all around to give a moldy appearance.

Embellies are from stash and hot glued on.

You know I had to use Crystal Effects somewhere (!!) and did use on eyes of main image and each of skull sockets on frame.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
