Day 16 - 31 Days, LOC #49, and S&SOctO!TH!

Wicked Blogger's are at it again for Day 16 of 31 Days of Halloween.  Can't believe it is already half over.  Thanks everyone for sticking it out with us.

The Wicked Blogger Roll is on the left side bar <-------
Scavenger hunt rules and guidelines can be found HERE for 31 Days of Halloween.

The project I have for you today will also be entered into Left Of Center Creative Challenges and Smeared and Smudged challenges.
LOC - #49 - Alter Something
Oh! The Horror! - Sleepy Hollow (insp. by movie/poster)

I was watching Sleepy Hollow (1999) last night and inspiration struck.  I love Burton's use of the gray/black color scheme in this movie.  Then, of course, all the heads that disappear.  I thought about adding bits of red, but for once held myself back, and happy I did.

I have altered a dry erase/magnet board to turn it into only a magnet board.  If any headless person(s) are looking for some skellie heads this Halloween, come on over, I've got a few!

BEFORE

AFTER

Dig, Dig, Dig, for the Deets

Started my altering by using brush and Black Gesso over entire board, which measures 13" x 13"...It was meant to be!

Once board was dry, I found an old cardboard skellie head stencil that I had made awhile ago.
I did have to cut out the bottom to create the teeth.  Use the extra piece for a little handle which was taped down.

Found my long lost glow in the dark paint, called GloAway (cute name!) and with brush put it onto stencil.
Pushed onto board 9x in different directions.  Let dry.

Next, stamping commenced!  Used set created by Rick St. Dennis for Smeared Ink Rubber Club called Morte (June 2013).
Skellie background stamp used as border and stamped with Silver Encore Ink.
Two heads w/ bone image was stamped randomly with Black Archival Ink.

Found 2 magnet clips and glued hand and foot to each.  Pieces are from stash.

Had a bracelet with skelli heads which I took apart.  Heads were adhered with large glue dot to magnet circles.
Thought it would be killer to have the skellie eyes glow in the dark, so put a dab of the GloAway in all the eyes.

Day 14 - 31 Days

You may have just arrived from one Wicked Blogger Kapree and are now here at Shoni / Crafty Inknik.  The next spook-a-licious blog is Altered Pages.

Don't forget that you can win daily prizes by going through the Wicked Bloggers (on <----- left side) and find a different hidden image each day on different blogs.  Click HERE to find about clues and how to enter.

It's Day 14 and I was not the only one excited for today's post.  I altered a baby doll head into a wine stopper over a year ago.  The body of the doll has been very upset at me because it wanted a head.  I was at Walmart the other day and guess what...found a skull that said it was looking for a body.  I just happen to have one of those.

Brought the skull home and could not wait to sit down and create, bwwaaaahhhaaaa.  Now this little love has a special place in my heart and so should have a name worthy of its unique beauty.
I only have boys, so this dear had to be a girl.  Her name means: The name of an evil spirit in Greek mythology who abducts and murders children. Also means "vampire" in Latin and "fiend" in Arabic.  What a perfect fit.  Hard to see but she does have a bit of blood on feet and hands.  Small enough to entice and feed on children this spooky Halloween.
I apologize for all the pics and you should be happy I narrowed it down to three!  Someone wanted me to get only the best poses...
I give you LAMIA:
 MY BEST SIDE

OH, HI!

Did Some One Say "Embellishement"?

Well they did over at Haunted Design House

HDH Challenge 167 - Emergency Embellishment - Pick your favourite embellishment, and use ONLY that embellishment on your project.

I choose the Button as my embellishment.

I was 3/4's of the way done with the head and then realized that I may run out of buttons.  But I am one of those people who always put 2 instead of 1 in the "how many" column...just in case!  I searched high and low and yes, had one extra package stashed away.

Embellie Skellie

 SEW, ONTO THE DEETS

I printed out the image from Skull-A-Day, found HERE.  Remember June 4th, Skull Appreciation Day!

Image is adhered to cardboard and then cut out.  I also cut out eyes and nose.

I saw an awesome tutorial at the Smeared and Smudged Forum for a technique called Sculptured Paper, using foil, paper towels, and Gesso.  This was done by the wonderful Tori Searcey.

I wrapped my finished paper over the cut out card board.

I wanted to add some dimention to the forehead, so I stuffed some tissue paper in the top before closing.

I molded the sculpted paper around the cut eyes and nose.

Spritz was used on the head for the for green  base and black sploches.

I used a leatherman to break buttons up.

Crystal Effects was used to glue all the buttons down everywhere.

Sticky strip is the adhesive I used to adhere the finished head to the Vellum card stock.  Which I then matted onto Old Olive and Basic Black.

Matte also spritzed and finished project measures 8 1/2" 11".
