Smeared Ink Monthly Design Team Blog Hop
BLOG HOP ROLL
Shoni aka Crafty Inknik - You are HERE
Welcome to the February Smeared Ink Design Team monthly blog hop!
This month we have been given the theme of REDRUM as are muse to do with as we wish.
Please enjoy what we have created for you and visit the Smeared and Smudged Forum for more inspiration from us and other members.
I have made a framed piece using the Gross Anatomy digi set from Smeared Ink. I was inspired by the bathroom mirror scene in The Shining by Steven King. Just some images of what is on the other side of the mirror at an old haunted hotel...
Sliced and Diced Deets
Frame was purchased at Walmart.
I took out the glass and sprayed with Krylon Mirror spray paint with 2-3 coats.
Once spray paint was dry, I scratched the word in the paint.
I used Cranberry Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint for the red areas.
Gross Anatomy images were printed out and altered just a bit with my Picasso software to help darken a bit to see through the paint.
Placed and adhered images to backing and re-framed.

HDH Challenge #182
Haunted Design House has a Macabre Monday Challenge that is up soon, sooo you better get your buns over there and join the freaky fun!
Challenge #182 is Frightening Fairies. Remember these fairies are the opposite of Tinker Bell. You need to check out the awesome projects done by the design team, outstanding!! WEEK 1 and then WEEK 2 have such inspiration to get you going.
I have merged two of the wonderous Rick St. Dennis images to make my Frightening Fairy. This fun and fancy free fairy is often misunderstood and so earns a page in my Ladies Art Journal, where I know she will feel right at home.
Mouth Full of Deets
The two Rick St. Dennis images are BUBBLE Bubble Toil and TROUBLE, and Summer Faerie. Summer Faerie was a July 2013 Freebie on the Sparkle and Glitter blog.
I printed out each on Whisper White card stock. Fussy cut the face from witch. Used an Exacto knife along hair line of Summer Faerie. Slipped other face in under cut hair line and adhered. Waala...my Frightening Fairy.
She is colored in with markers and Blender Pen. Fussy cut.
I did use a stamp from Stampotique Originals called Spider Wings by Daniel Torrente. They are stamped with Black Staze On over her already printed ones.
Silver Details over wings to give some sparkle.
Background was made with acrylic paints and home made gelli plate.
Red beams with inks and Aqua Painter.
Cut Grass Dylusions Ink Spray in upper left corner with die from stash.
She is outlined with Black Sharpie. Pen also used for hand written words.
Ranger Black Accents on teeth and eye centers.
Crystal Effects over face and yellow flowers on dress.
Dazzling Details on star on wand.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Bloody Valentine Hop - Day 3
LAST DAY FOR SMEARED AND SMUDGED
BLOODY VALENTINE'S HOP
Day 3
Blog Hop Roll
I am so sad that this Hop is over, but know that I can go back and look again at each of the three days at what creative and wonderful projects that were created.
You may have just seen Wendy's Poe inspired Bookmark. If not, the blog roll is just above for you to start where you wish. Next is Ike who as done wonders with a beast.
For today's project, Day 3, I was inspired by one of the Valentine Bloggers who is doing a spell theme and the idea of pulling petals from a flower to see if your crush loves you, or not.
This unique jar has a love spell upon it and will bestow its power unto any who seek love.
But as anyone of us knows, it comes with a price.
"If it's true love you seek,
then let thine heart be true.
Fill your mind and soul
with the beloved one.
Take care for only a single
chance you have.
For what is drawn,
the desired heart will obey
three score and no more.
Accept thy fate for
True Love's sake."

I wrote "Thee Love Me" and "Thee Loves Me Not" on the back of each randomly.
Poem was made up by yours truly and written in Word. Printed in red.
Torn on all sides and inked with ink pads.
Used Netting background stamp (SU!) and heart stamp with Sahara Sand ink for background.
Sewing pin to hold onto heart below.

Smeared and Smudged Bloody Valentine Hop - Day 2
Are you ready for some more Valentine inspiration, the Smeared and Smudged "Way"? Well I hope so because I loved yesterday and can not wait to see what the wonderful talented ladies have created today.
Forgive the long post today but have two project to share today also. Deets and more pics below for those of you who like reading my ramblings!
You should have just seen Wendy's Day 2 amazing digi work and next up Ike with more bloody Valentine for your peepers.
I have made a little Love Note Notebook for today's entry. I would have loved this in my teen angst years...okay who am I kidding, I love it NOW! Nothing like jotting my husbands' demise or quick notes down on some bloody hearts. And the best thing is that I can always print out more paper when I run out! Enjoy today's hop and I so appreciate your kind, funny, and wonderful comments.
My second project is a hang, Clutching Love, I have done for Ike's World Challenges Day 2 of the Hop. I just love her hand images, which of course can be found at Ike's Art. More details about this project below.
Murderous Thoughts and Unsavory Deets
Love Note Notebook
Heart front and back covers are from The Octopode Factory. Image is from a set called Edgar Allen Poe.
Image is printed onto Whisper White card stock. Markers and inks with Aqua Painter to color in. I spritzed the marker areas with water and let run to give the bleeding look.
Used Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger over bottom 3/4's of heart. I wanted to leave the top clean to make it look like the top part of heart was being squeezed, so no cracks.
Paper is from a Smeared Ink digital set called Poe Boy. I did alter it a bit with my Picasso program to make it just a tad lighter so that I could write on it.
I printed out on both sides of copy paper.
Cut out heart shape and used Crop-a-dile to make circle punches to hold my office rings.
Distressed edges and inked with Cherry Cobbler to make edges of pages look bloody. Spritzed with water to make inked edges bleed and more crumply.
Backsides of covers is another digital paper from Poe Boy.
Printed onto copy paper and adhered to back of covers.
Crop-a-dile for punched holes on covers.
Linen Thread for wrap around hearts on covers.
Marker on thread to make bloody.
Clutching Love Hang
This was an evolving piece that I was even surprised at how it ended up.
HANDS
Hands are from Ike's Art, called I Want You. I printed out twice, then flipped the image and printed out again.
Inks, markers, and Aqua Painter to color hands. Fussy cut and adhered the pairs together.
Since the fad is to color one fingernail a different color, I used Black Ranger Accents on the pointer fingers. Then Cherry Cobbler to color in the rest of nails then added Crystal Effects for shine and dimension.
Netting background stamp (SU!) over all sides of hands to give some more texture.
HEART CENTER
I cut out two hearts from Cherry Cobber cardstock. Smushed and crumpled, inked and sponged. Tore the top heart in the center and added designer paper from stash in tear.
Layered back heart, hands, Sweater Trim Ribbon, and top heart. All adhered with Sticky Strip.
Added Crystal Effects to tear in heart for blood drips.
HANGING HEARTS
Hanging hearts are fussy cut hands from another Ike's Art image, Face On. When I first saw this image I immediately saw the hands and how they could make a bone shaped heart.
The image was printed out as big as I could two times.
Hands were fussy cut and adhered together.
A small heart punch was used with the extra scrap paper, same as in main heart, and dental floss to hang from center of bone hands heart.
I tried to make Crystal Effects blood drips with re-inkers, but used too much re-inker. So just smeared what I had randomly on bone hands. (Shown in above picture on silicone sheet.)
Did make super small hand drawn hearts in between open areas of images with fine tip black Sharpie.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Weekly Smeared Ink DT Project and Junk Funk Feb Challenge
February is going to fly just as quick as January I believe! Lots of projects up ahead for you this month and am getting excited for the Bloody Valentine Blog Hop that Smeared Ink is hosting once again.
The Smeared and Smudged Forum is loaded with great new challenges all month long and I was so happy to already have an entry for the Junk Funk February Challenge which is using Bubble Wrap in some way.
I have combined this project with my Smeared Ink Weekly Design Team project in which I can only use Smeared Ink stamps. Which is not a problem because I just got my sets from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club and am only tooo happy to get crafty with them.
I participated in the Kickstart You Art Challenge this past week and for some reason can not stop. So in an un-offical Day 8, I have another page for my "ladies journal" to share.

If you missed this week long challenge, start from Day 1, and see what this event was all about.
Thank You Smeared Ink, the Smeared and Smudged Forum. Special big THANKS to the hard working ladies from the Art Journal Every Day Design Team for the challenges, prompts, tutorials, and the beautiful pages they created to help and inspire.
I am so happy to have added some new pages to my "ladies journal" this week. What's even better is that I have now more inspiration and techniques that I can now apply to future projects and pages.
My last page was inspired from my Smeared Ink Rubber Club stamp set I just received called Carnies. I also mixed this page up a bit and tried Basic Black card stock as my base.

Welcome to a wonderful February 1st. Thanks so much for joining members of the Smeared Ink Design Team, Mixed Media University (MMU) Design Team, and the Art Journal Every Day Design Team (AJED) as we show off some of Smeared Ink's superb new images. See more of what both teams have to offer over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum. Kapree just show us her wonderful card and up next is Ike with a wonderful page inspired by a great poem.
All the images you will see along the hop are available now at the Smeared Ink shop. Enjoy and please let us all know what you think of our projects and the new images.
I was sooo excited to work with some of the new images from new sets Octopus Pie and The Keepers. I have decided that I am going to make a 2015 Calender, 8 1/2" x 11", using only 2014 New Release Smeared Ink stamps.

I am also challenging myself a bit in that I am going to use mainly colored pencils for images and try to add more doodling to each page. Thanks MMU and AJED teams for giving me confidence to try and do more!
I think that I am going to finish all 12 months before I put together and complete the calendar. Just in case I change my mind on what I want to use for each month. Then again, I just may throw them in a pile and randomly choose. We will see....Anyway, here are the first two pages:
