Smeared Ink Design Team Monthly Blog Hop

Lots of madness, craziness, and insanity going on in the month of March and what better way to celebrate than Smeared Ink style!

March Madness is the theme for this month's Design Team project.  Two of my fellow teamies were able to join me in the Blog Hop this month.   Please leave some love for each and let them know what you think of their madness!

MARCH MADNESS BLOG HOP

SHONI - you are here @ Crafty Inknik

I have made a mini quote album from the lid of a Prego jar.  I have used a Smeared and Smudged Forum March Junk Funk Challenge to be part of this project as well.  I have found some great quotes on madness and insanity that I hand wrote and placed on the punched pages.  I hope to keep adding quotes I find.

Deets of Madness

My lid came from a Prego jar which I used Black Gesso around the edges.

Top image is from a Smeared Ink digital paper set called Poe Boy.  Printed out, punched and adhered to top of lid.  Crystal Effects over entire top image.

I used a 2 1/2" circle punch for each of the pages.  Pages are double sided, random designer paper and card stock.

Each side is stamped with a Past Rubber Club Offering, Morte (June 2013 / Rick St. Dennis).

White Baker's Twine to hold it all together along with Sticky Strip.

Pages fold up and fit perfect inside the lid.

                                       Quotes

"In a mad world, only the mad are sane."
                           - Akira Kurosawa

"If you think anyone is sane you just don't know enough about them."
- Christopher Moore

"I have felt the wind on the wing of madness."
- Charles Baudelaire

"I become insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity."
- Edgar Allen Poe

"You're given a little spark of madness.  You must use it."
- Robin Williams

Smeared Ink Weekly DT Project

A busy week and headed out this weekend for a little get away.  Hope you all have a great weekend and be sure to stop by on Monday for the Smeared Ink Design Team Blog Hop.

For this project I am going to show the first page in a book that I have created using the Smeared Ink digital set Framed Rhymes.  I love nursery rhymes and just had to have when I saw Smeared Ink style nursery rhymes!

The first of four is Mary Mary Quite Contrary.

Growing the Details

Besides Framed Rhymes, I also used a Smeared Ink Rubber Club set called Killer Bo which is one of this months offering.  It has some great plants and skellie plants.

The edging around each page is masking tape, scrunched and wadded.
I then used White Gesso over the entire page to cover the original book.
Silver Metallic Inka Rub over edging.

Images was printed out onto card stock and colored in with markers and Blender Pen.

Random things from stash added to make page floral.

Sayings were printed out onto copy paper.

Inks, sprays, markers all used to make background colors and for stamped images.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Rock N' Rolla March Smeared and Smudged Challenge

Finished up a scrapbook page for the Rock N' Rolla March Challenge over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum

One last weekend to get those projects done!  I have done pretty well this month and still can not believe that March is almost over.

The video inspiration for this month is Oasis - All Around the World.  There are so many wonderful visuals in this one video it was hard to choose.  So I took what lasted with me.

Have a crafty weekend everyone!

Worldly Deets

Weekly Smeared Ink Design Team Project

Oh no, I think that I am going to have A LOT of Art Journals.  But that's okay, the only thing is where am I going to put them!  Not to worry, I will find a spot.

For this week's Smeared Ink Weekly Design Team Project I have made a new Art Journal.  This was inspired from the Art Journal Every Day Group on the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  I have used Prompt #13 & #16 along with Technique #16.

Prompts #13 is be inspired by the Big Top.  Prompt #16 use a Manilla folder for your Art Journal/page.  Technique #16 is building with ink, watercolor, and Gesso.  Thank You Laura B. and Susan Slayer for your prompts and techniques!

Stamps are from the Past Offerings of the Smeared Ink Rubber Club, Carnies (Dec 2013) and Dedicated to Art (Dec 2013).

Behind the Curtains

I cut my Manilla folder in half so that I could get two half folders out of it.  They measure 5 3/4" x 9".

Used Envelope Board to make more file tops on ends for each of the folders.

Layers of Ranger Distressed Inks, Watercolor crayons, White Gesso, Staz On inks, and Stampin' Up! inks.
Aqua Painter, paint brush, Tombow Glue, and stencils also used.

Gold Smooch Spritz.

Fine tip Black Sharpie for written words.

Designer Paper is from a set called Big Top (SU! retired).

Images were stamped onto copy paper, fussy cut, and adhered on.

Snake Charmer was gone over with Versa Mark ink, Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed.

Note:  Next time I think that I am not going to go over my main images with Gesso.  Tried to do it lightly but really lost color once Gesso was dried.

Ike's World Challenges Design Team Project #13 - Spring into Spring

Well Hello!
Spring is just a couple of days away and what better way to get into the action than a new challenge at Ike's World Challenges.

The Design Team has some fair weather inspiration for you and don't forget to check back in one week for more.  Challenge #13 is Spring into Spring.  There are prizes to be won with every new challenge so get your creative mind to work and show us your entry.  An Ike's Art image must be used in your entry to be eligable for the prize.

The images from Ike's Art that I have used for this Spring challenge are Here's Kitty and Winter Robin.  This card fold is called the 4 Fold.  Each flap flips open a different way to reveal the inside.

As you may have seen in past projects, I just love cats.  They are so fun in real life and for my projects.  My cats have been waiting for better weather and are ready to get outside.  Just like this anxious kitty in my card.

Let Me At Em' Deets

Card base, flaps, and cut feathers on front are Basic Black card stock.

Here's Kitty is printed onto Whisper White card stock.  Aqua Painter, Blender Pen, markers, and ink used to color in.
Crystal Effects on eyes and nails.

Winter Robin is printed out multiple times, resized, and flipped onto Whisper White card stock.
Aqua Painter and inks to color around images.

Saying is from Word, font is Chiller.

Red and white background behind words and on front is from a Smeared Ink digital paper from set Poe Boy.

For scratches on front, a old pen that does not work was used on top of a soft pad to indent scratch marks.

Feathers on front were cut from an embossed sheet of card stock.  Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  Then scissors used to cut and add dimension around edges.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Oh! The Horror! March and Punk You Girl #10 Challenges

Inspiration hit and I have created a fun little card for the two challenges listed below which I will be entering.  I had the themes for both of these challenges rumbling around in my head and the combo of the two created this card.

WARNING
PLEASE NOTE that the second picture does contain some CRUDE LANGUAGE.  So if this may offend you, please close this page now.

The first challenge is for the Smeared and Smudged Forum which holds monthly challenges.  This is one of the many challenge theme/prompts to get you inspired that they offer.
Oh! The Horror! is an ongoing monthly challenge that has you create from a movie.  This month is Mama and the challenge is "to reach for a clean looking looking image with a horribly dark and grunge tone."

The second challenge is one hosted by Punk You Girl.  For Challenge 10 the theme is Fairy Tales Gone Bad.

My couple is Wendy and Peter when they are married and a bit older.  Ironically Wendy was never able to have children and this has taken a grave toll on the marriage.  Maybe Peter was in Never Never Land too long, but for whatever reason Peter likes to have a Night on the Town every now and then.  My clean and wholesome couple are now exchanging words after Wendy finds out some news about Peter's outings...thus the dark and crude words from Wendy.

The next time you have a night on the town and cheat on me...
I will cut off your penis and make you eat it.
Am I making myself clear?

Sharpening the Details

Image is a Smeared Ink digital stamp from set called Smitten.  I printed out onto copy paper because you can see the pattern of the designer paper slightly through it.

Night on the Town saying on card front is also from same digi set, printed and cut.

Crumb Cake card stock for base.  Designer Paper is from set called Venetian Romance.

Cajun Craze button, large Pearl Jewels, and Crochet Trim Ribbon for embellishments on the front left panel of card.

AR DECODE font used for words on inside of card.  Printed out onto copy paper.

Stamp from Glorious Grunge stamp set used with Cherry Cobbler ink for inside of card.
Cherry Cobbler marker for cut lines on inside of card and exclamation point on left side of panel on card front.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Weekly Smeared Ink DT Project and Junk Funk March Challenge

For this week I have chosen to combine my Weekly Smeared Ink Design Team Project, in which I have only used Smeared Ink stamps, with a monthly challenge on the Smeared and Smudged Forum.

I have altered a tin can to make what I like to call my "Eye Can Can".
The Junk Funk Challenge is to use lids, any kind of lids.
My lids are bottle caps.

Eye Catching Deets

Eyes are from a digital stamp from the set Monster Hearts found in the Smeared Ink shop.
I cropped the image to get only the eyes, then printed.
Each is colored in with markers and punched out with 1 1/4", 1", 1/2" circle punches.

Clear stones were purchased at Walmart and hot glued on.

Finished eyes were placed in bottle caps and Crystal Effects over each.

Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks used on base of tin can.

Large Pearl Jewels for white eyes.

On the smallest caps, I hand drew eyes with black Sharpie.
Black Sharpie also used for eye centers on Pearl Jewels.

I did use hot glue in some open areas to help give texture.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Weekly Smeared Ink DT Project

Fat Tuesday and what better way than to celebrate this day than with a new Art Journal!  I am using watercolor paper as my base for each page.

My art journal page for my Weekly Smeared Ink Design Team project uses a stamp I just got from the set Danse Macabre (January 2014) and a partial saying from the stamp set Occasions Grumpies (September 2013). Both sets I received from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

Since I have only used Smeared Ink stamps I am also going to put this page in the Smudgy Antics Anything Goes Challenge found in the Challenger Group on the Smeared and Smudged Forum for this month.  Get over to the Smeared and Smudged Forum and check out the challenges, groups, and talented people.

I was also inspired by a wonderful ground which can be found at the Smeared and Smudged Forum called Art Journal Everyday.  This fab group has wonderful Design Team Members that give you prompts and techniques to help you create fun new pages for your art journal.

I have used Technique #15, done by Titbelsoeur, for this/these pages which I am planning on turning into a journal.  I just love this technique!!  Live it up tonight and get crafty!

FLASH

NO FLASH
Drinks N' Deets

I stamped my image from Danse Macabre Smeared Ink Rubber Club set onto scrap paper.  Fussy cut.
Looked in some magazines until I saw this page w/ lots on it.  Tried a few pictures then saw the hat shape and the bottle.
Used the two pictures and my fussy cut guy to make my template.  I found an old piece of plastic in my stash and used a black Sharpie to make outlines.
Fussy cut my drawn shape on the plastic.

Background is use of bubble wrap, Dylusion Spray Inks, templates, and random texture pieces I could find.

Saying is "get lit" from the original saying "let's get lit for the holidays" from the Occasions Grumpies stamp set, Smeared Ink Rubber Club.  I stamped in Early Espresso ink inside image on left and around image on the right.

Skelli was re-stamped with Cajun Craze ink on right side.
I used a gold marker to outline each dancing guy.
Spritzed Gold Smooch (retired SU!) over entire page.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
