Quoth The Raven, Nevermore Jan Quest #40

I am enjoying all the new challenges going on in the new year and have decided to made a flip book dedicated to some of the great Edgar Allan Poe quotes.
The Quests at Quoth The Raven, Nevermore are perfect for this flip book.
Trying to get more into the digial side of experimenting and having a blast.

The page will be entered into this Quest #40 - Snow Poe where the challenge is to use White and only one other color.

Dabbled Deets

Background is from the Smeared Ink digital set called Venice.
Image was altered with Picasso and printed out on Whisper White card stock.

Took the quote from The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe and used AR JULIN font in Word.  Printed out over background.

Used Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink and stamps from a Smeared Ink rubber set called Inky Dreams.  Stamped randomly around edges of page.

All edges on page were distressed and sponged.

Basic Black card stock for backing. All edges also distressed.

Illuminate Pearlized Top Coat Smooch on random words through out quote.

Black journaling pen to add quotation marks and title.

Crop-a-dile to punch holes for 1" binder rings.

"The mask which concealed the visage was made so nearly to resemble the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have had difficulty in detecting the cheat. And yet all this might have been endured, if not approved, by the mad revellers around. But the mummer had gone so far as to assume the type of the Red Death. His vesture was dabbled in blood --and his broad brow, with all the features of the face, was besprinkled with the scarlet horror."

Smudgy Antics DT Project and S&S AJ Jan Challenge

For today's Smudgy Antics DT inspiration I have used Smeared Ink stamps from the Rubber Club Past Offerings sets:
and

I will also be entering this art journal page into the Smeared and Smudged January Art Journal Challenge - Skulls.  You can find this challenge HERE

Dirt Covered Deets

Page was started with brush and Black Gesso.  Let dry.

Used skull stamp from Morte on left side and stamped with Versa Mark ink.  Crushed Curry Embossing Powder over stamped images and then heat set.

Raven, from Quoth The Raven set, was inked with Silver Encore ink and randomly stamped all over page.

Heart, also from Quoth The Raven set, was inked with Crushed Curry ink and randomly stamped all over page.

Then used a small brush with White Gesso to make eyes, nose, teeth, and light outline of skull.  Let dry.

Journaling pen to outline skull and features.  Then wrote a bit of "The Premature Burial" by Edgar Allan Poe.

"The unendurable oppression of the lungs - the stifling fumes from the damp earth - the clinging to the death garments - the rigid embrace of the narrow house - the blackness of the absolute Night - the silence like a sea that overwhelms the unseen but palable presence of the Conqueror Worm - these things, with the thoughts of the air and grass above..."

Ike's World Challenges Week 2, HDH Jan Challenge, PYG Jan Challenge

I apologize for this post not posting on the correct day.  For some reason it was ready to post for February.  Ho hum, yep, the mind is truly going.

Get over to Ike's World Challenges!  Such wonderful projects by the DT from Week 1 and Week 2.  This Challenge #29 Something Old / Something New is waiting just for you.  Get those projects in by Monday the 19th and win...

I will be using two of Ike's images, VAMP and NEW SHOES, which can be found at Ike's Art.  One of them is also this #29 Challenge FREEBIE!!
When I saw NEW SHOES, the first thing that popped into my head was little girl who was sad that she got her new shoes dirty...with blood!  You know me, always on the dark side.
Then I knew she reminded me of Claudia from 'Interview with a Vampire', and so my art journal page was born.
She and her shoes are something new, and the vampire who created her is something old.

I will also be entering this page into the January Challenges:
Haunted Design House January Challenge, "What's New Pussycat?"
Punk You Girl January Challenge "Anything Goes"

Cleaning Up the Deets

Sponge with Dylusions and Maya Mist sprays used to make background on page.

Vamp and New Shoes images were printed onto Whisper White card stock.
Each was colored in with inks, Aqua Painter, and markers.

Vamp was sponge around cut edges.
New Shoes was fussy cut.
Each was adhered onto page, then sponges around to highlight.

Saying was altered with a font in word, printed onto copy paper, cut, and adhered to page.
"A little child she was but also a fierce killer now capable of the ruthless persuit of blood, with a child's demanding."

I have created a new AJ book cover for an upcoming S&S event/challenge.
All images are Smeared Ink digital pages so this fits my DT rulz.

In the dead of winter many can go quite mad, insane, or just plain crazy.
This art journal will be a tribute to all those wonderful creatures born and thriving during this special time of year.
"Winter is coming", and now, "Winter is here".

Snowfall of Deets

I adjusted 3 different Smeared Ink digital papers in my Picasso software.
Printed each separately onto the same Whisper White cards stock overlaying each other.

Smeared Ink Digital Papers Used:
Icy
Cranium
Poe Boy

Chose a font for the saying "Winter is here.", changed to red and printed once more.

Finished page was then adhered onto the front of a old workbook from one of the kids.
Am going to Gesso pages and let dry this week to get ready for challenge, Kickstart Your Art.

Thanks everyone!  Have fun hopping today.
