Weekly Smeared Ink DT Project

This have been one week of getting crafty!  Hope you all have been trying to some creativity in your week.

Smeared Ink has resurrected the Design Team Monthly Hop, for the 2014 year, which I am so happy to be a part of.  Click HERE for the first one.  We will be having this DT Monthly Hop the last Monday of each month.  So please check us out and the wonderful projects that we hope will inspire you.

Smeared Ink came out with a new set called Monster Hearts.  I love these hearts and had to play around.  So my Weekly Smeared Ink DT project today features one of these hearts, which I can always carry with me.

Iron On Details

When I saw Monster Hearts, I had to try to make one on a bag.

I printed image out onto Avery (3302) Fabric Transfers.  Now it says that you need an ink jet printer, but since I have never done this...what the hell, lets just try it.  AND it worked!  I have a Canon MG3222 printer, nothing special.

Again, never having tried this, I decided to use Copic's to color in my image.
Once done I used my iron to adhere colored image to the fabric.

I am not the best at figuring out measurements for sewing.  I guess-ta-mate a lot.  I set the cut image and made a reasonable sized rectangle w/ the fabrics.  I did add in the 1/4" seams that would be needed when I did finally sew it all together.  Outside fabric is from stash, and red lining is from Essentials set from Stampin' Up! (retired).

I hand stitched the lines around mouth, two on the right eye, X's around main image, and buttons on left eye with embroidery thread.

I did line inside with the stuff to make the sides a little stronger and the fluffy material also.  So sorry for you who do sew, that I do not know the names of these.

Yes, there is Crystal Effects on the center of mouth and center of right eye.  Had to try and it did lose a little of the dimension but made those area shiny w/ a cool texture.

Buttons are SU! (retired).
Zipper used was 7".
Bag ended up measuring 6 3/4" x 6 1/2".
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

So glad I tried this and now will have to make more.  Get out of your comfort zone and go try something new this week!

Already into week one of the New Year and got a FREE fun new image to play with over that the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  This is a free forum, a wonderful creative community and lots of fun month long challenges!

My project for the Freaky Freebie January Challenge is using the Smeared Ink image PHLEM from the MONSTER HEARTS set.

I have made 3, 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" set of cards with a belly band to hold them and the envelopes.

Eyeful of Deets

PHLEM from the MONSTER HEARTS set is printed out onto copy paper 4 times.
Each is colored in with marker, inks, and an Aqua Painter.

Basic Black card stock for base measuring 3 1/2" x 3 1/2".  Cut printed images and adhered to card front.
Used fine tip Black Sharpie to write "I love You" on lower right corner for each card.
Same Sharpie to make stitching around each printed image.
Crystal Effects on left eye and drool.

Belly Band
Extra piece of left over Black Card stock from 8 1/2" x11" piece that I cut up for the 3 cards.

Used an old bag from stash for the black netting.
Unraveled a small piece of Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim Ribbon for the red bits.

Fussy cut last colored heart and adhered it all to belly band with Sticky Strip.

Smudgy Antics Challenge Broken Heart #2

"We have all been there...crying our eyes out because somebody we loved broke our hearts.  If you haven't had a broken heart, I'm sure you helped one of your best friends mend their broken heart or watched your children get their hearts broken. This fortnight we want you ladies and gents to create a project depicting a broken heart or being broken hearted."

Smudgy Antics Challenge is still open for 1 more day!  Get crafty and get your entry in.   Broken Heart is the challenge.  Click HERE and HERE to see what awesome projects the DT had created.  I was inspired the first time by the DT and the second by an entry done by CARLA

All Good Deets Must Come To An End
Image is from Delicious Doodles.  Printed out on copy paper.

Heart
So hard to see, but the heart is puffed a little bit because I added some old dryer sheets under it to help puff it up.

Heart was colored with Cherry Cobble marker.  Antique Linen Distress Crackle Paint over entire heart.

Added Crystal Effects over to make look vein-ie and organ like.
Drips and blood pool also have Crystal Effects.

Black Sharpie to go around heart.

Flower
Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate markers for rose.  Pistachio Pudding and Smoky Slate marker for stem and leaves.  White marker for highlights.

Background
I masked heart and stamped Parlor Prints in Crushed Curry and Sanded in Cajun Craze, both Stampin' Up!  (retired).  Matted on Crushed Curry card stock and then on Basic Black card stock card.

Saying is from Loving Thoughts stamp set, Stampin Up! (current) and stamped in Black Staze On.
I used sharpie to re-write Never and cross out Always.

All materials used are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Freaky Freebie July Smeared & Smudged and Haunted Design House 171 Challenges

Join the Smeared and Smudged Forum and get a FREE digi!  This month features a Smeared Ink digital image of a sweet gal named Nurse Jenny

See what happens when one of my favorite sites, Haunted Design House, offers a HDH171 Challenge - FREAKER'S FREE FOR ALL.  They get another entry from me!  Okay, this is the last entry for this "dark, Gothic, or Halloween" challenge.

When I first saw her, I loved her huge eyes.  Initially this project was for another Smeared and Smudged challenge, but as we all know the project sometimes takes on a life of its own.  A 1978 song by Robert Palmer came into my head as I was finishing up this page. So I titled my entry after the song "Bad Case Of Loving You".

Nurse Jenny was really needing this crazy tangled heart for herself.   Nurse Jenny is a sweet young candy striper who tends to get a bit obsessive with men ("Doctor, Doctor give me the news...").  In this case she fell in love with a doctor, who does not even know she exists ("...I've got a bad case of loving you...").  As time goes by, Nurse Jenny's dark side must take drastic action...which is not so good for the doctor.  But, in the end, she did get him... and his heart.

HEARTBREAKING DETAILS

All materials and accessories are Stampin' Up!, except for notebook paper, black sharpie, Gesso (white), and straw/hay materials (found at thrift shop).

HEART
Scalloped heart was cut from a framelit and Big Shot on Very Vanilla card stock.  I used Crystal Effects to help hold down the straw/hay material.
I spritzed heart with mixed combos of reinkers, alcohol, and Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.
Gesso was poured over.  I tried to let dry but went ahead and added more spritzes, glitter, and drops of Real Red reinker to heart.

NURSE JENNY
She was colored in with markers and a Blender Pen.
Silver Details on her eyes.
Fussy cut and set inside heart.

BACKGROUND
Words written with Black Sharpie pen on notebook paper.  Base of 8 1/2" x 11" is Early Espresso card stock.  Stamped blood spatters with stamp from set Gorgeous Grunge in Real Red ink.  Some Washi tape to help give that young girl impression.

Your Advice,

Woo Hoo, new month, new challenges!  Get over to the Smeared and Smudged forum to play along.
Eeeek, Spring Break is this week here and I am going to lose some creative time.  I hope to get to some challenges that I have my eye on so there my be a lot of posts today.

The Rock N Rolla Challenge for April is Nirvana's song Heart Shaped Box.  There were a lot of ideas that went through my head.  The images that stuck with me were the muscles and tendons, poppies and butterflies, and the little girl in white.  Then of course the lyrics had to be in there somewhere also.

I am really happy with my 12" x 12" page.  Hope it has some inspiration in there for you.
Have a great week and go create!

THE DEETS
First, all products used to make this page are from Stampin' Up!

CHEST
I really wanted to use the image of the muscles and tendons of the upper body.  But how to make???  Stampin' Up! has Filter Paper pieces that I decided to use.  I cut it into strips and ran it though the Big Shot in the Embossing Folder Woodgrain.  Then used the Pink Pirouette ink pad directly onto filter paper.  Highlighted the embossed ridges with Riding Hood Red ink.

I hand drew the body first onto Very Vanilla.  Then used the Aqua Painter and Calypso Coral ink to help with the definition of the muscles.

I tore up the filter paper into strips and adhered them to my base with Snail, tape runner.

Once all the strips were down, I used the Riding Hood Red Marker to help define the muscles once more.  Trimmed and adhere to my 12" x 12" Designer Paper.

HEART
I made this mosaic heart stamp with left over pieces of rubber.
It was Versa Marked then stamped onto Whisper White card stock.
I used Iridescent Ice and Basic Black Embossing Powder with heat gun.
I applied ink directly from pads to embossed heart
(Tempting Turquoise and Bravo Burgundy)

HAT
The filter paper comes in 12" x 6" strips and 6" circles.
I folded sides of one circle and adhered to a triangle from Whisper White card stock.
I used the large background stamp Pleasant Poppies which were embossed with Basic Black Embossing Powder.  I colored in flowers with Riding Hood Red Marker.

Edges of page were sponged and stamped with Basic Black ink and mosaic heart stamp.
