IKE'S WORLD CHALLENGES - Challenge #3, Anything Goes and Musically Challenged Challenge

Looking for Day 15 for the 31 Days of Halloween?   Next post please!

That is heading is correct!  Anything Goes for Challenge #3 here at Ike's World Challenges.  The Design Team members have used one of Ike's wonderful images from her shop to create our projects for this challenge.  There are such a variety and each DT has done a fabulous job.  Please check out each, get inspired, get to Ike's Shop, and create something!

I have used Wolf 3 to make my 12" x 12"  scrapbook page today.  Two things inspired this page.  One, my son is starting Boy Scouts and is in the Wolf pack.  Two, Musically Challenged blog has Bark at the Moon by Ozzy, Challenge #11.  "...create something inspired by the song, the name, the video, a character, a feeling you get from the video...anything! good luck!"

I wanted to create a pack of strong and confident wolves walking in the moonlight and mist.  Eventually I will add my sons' pic and the rest of his fellow pack members to the page.  For the song, main 'wolf' has a hard time accepting what he has become.  In the end he walks away and I believe, knowing that he is now accepting that part of him.  So again the strong and confident wolves that know who they are.  BTW, Team Jacob!!

Howl It Out Deets
I printed out Wolf 3 image onto copy paper and fussy cut.
Inks and Aqua Painter to color in each.  Then used Log Cabin Smooch Spritz to help add some texture.  Went over once more with markers and Aqua Painter to give a bit more detail and depth.  Added a bit of yellow to backs for light from the moon.
Small Pearl Jewels for eyes.

Background is on Whisper White 12" x 12" card stock.
Cut out moon from scrap paper and places into corner.
Used Brayer and 3 blues to ink background.
Removed moon scrap and added ink to make yellow.
Used scrap paper and Basic Gray ink with sponge to make clouds.
Ink up a template from The Crafters Workshop called Branches with Early Espresso ink.
Placed on page and used Brayer to press ink from template on page.
Aqua Painter and light blue ink to mix in brayered lines and give mist look.
Whole page was spritzed with Gold Smooch Spritz.
All materials are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

  11. Hi Matney: I had no idea this was a 12x12 creation! When you say "fussy cut" my gosh, you really mean fussy cut. I looked at those wolves legs and am floored at your steady hands! The coloring of the wolves, to give that definition is beyond measure. Reading how you created this peace is so impressive Matney. It is such a fine piece of mixed media art. To bring together so many different mediums into one piece takes such raw talent, which you obviously have as this piece is a testimony of. The moon shining has an eerieness to it yet the strength of the wolves is so evident that the balance of the two is so neat. I just love the tree in the background. It is powerful...Just that one solitary tree speaks so much to the living ground of the wolves yet adds the lurking and looming reverberating sounds of the howl. It is so beautiful Matney that you brought this image home to celebrate a rite of passage of your son. How gorgeous that you will give him such a powerful piece to adorn his "pack" and his own membership to it. I love that and I'm sure he will feel so special to be part of your art. Thanks so much for writing up how you created this Matney. I would not have such an appreciation for your process, for your bringing the pieces together had you not. It also gives those that see this so many new ideas. You are certainly a teacher with that style. Brilliant. Thanks for entering this in Musically Challenged Challenge, and for giving the Challenge a headline in your write up. That is really kind of you. Acknowledgement is a stellar trait!!! xox Soulfully Yours, Samara DT, Musically Challenged Challenge
